Installer log
Before you start
- Use desktop Chrome or Edge: they can talk to USB devices. Safari and Firefox cannot.
- Connect the Tab5 to the computer with a USB-C data cable. A charge-only cable will not show a port.
- Close anything else using the Tab5's port: Arduino IDE, PlatformIO monitor, M5Burner.
- Press Connect and install and choose the Tab5's port in the list (on Windows it is a
COMport).
After installing
- Restart the Tab5 with its button. It does not restart by itself after installing, and only a restart with the button brings the sound up.
- Pick a mode on the start screen and play. The user guide walks through every screen and key.
- Later versions can be installed over WiFi, without a computer: see “WIFI FILES & firmware update” in the user guide.
Install by hand
For a browser without USB support, or if you prefer the command line. Download the four files into one folder:
- …
- Install
esptool:pip install esptool - In the folder with the files, run (put your port instead of
COM3, e.g./dev/ttyACM0on Linux):…
- Restart the Tab5 with its button.

Something went wrong?
- No port in the list — try another cable (many are charge-only) or another USB socket.
- “Failed to connect” — close other programs that use the port and try again.
- No sound after installing — restart the Tab5 with its button, not by reconnecting the cable.
- Still stuck — write to afgust.studio@gmail.com and attach the installer log.
